I used to think being a missionary meant you needed to go somewhere else. To share the hope of the Gospel, it was necessary to travel to a third-world country or help with a cause far away from home. I thought the mission field was in a different place, not in my own backyard.
Now I believe sharing God’s hope happens wherever we are. Our ministry is right in front of us—our families and friendships, careers, the clubs we are involved in, and the passions we pursue. Even our momentary exchanges are all a platform to share the Good News. Sharing our God stories is important, as is living out our faith with action instead of words. Christ can use our lives anywhere we are when we bring His hope, love, and comfort.
Matthew 5:16 says it best, “Let your light so shine before others, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.”
