Inward Change vs. Outward Accomplishments

Dallas Willard said, “It’s not what you do but who you become that matters.”

It’s easy to get caught up in accomplishment; it keeps us busy doing things without reflecting on those things, remaining focused on ourselves. It feels fantastic to fulfill our goals but living a life centered on personal achievement is limiting.

We are made for a purpose greater than ourselves; to be part of God’s glorious plan that has more to do with changing hearts than accomplishing goals.

Our world is hungry for changed people interested in helping others and leaving the world a better place. Let us be among those who believe that the inner transformation of our lives is a goal worthy of our best effort.

Keeping in mind what matters most to God found in 1 Samuel 16:7: “God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
