Pickleball vs. Purpose

Pickleball is a blast! I get to play a sport, learn something new and spend time with friends. But sometimes, I wonder when life gets busy if it is the best use of my time. I asked God about this on one such occasion as I left my car for the courts, and there was Dennis!

Dennis is our community pickleball organizer who was giving us a message from the Bible about receiving the kingdom of God like a little child. He said when we play pickleball we get to live in God’s joy and practice being humble, kind, enthusiastic, and open to suggestions. To honor God in how we treat each other on the court and have a teachable spirit, one that does not insist on its own way.

1 John 3:18 says, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

Sometimes I take myself too seriously, and God wants us to have fun and take Him with us wherever we go, bringing the sweet fragrance of Christ in all our interactions. God has a ministry for us right where we are.
